Effective date: May 1, 2026
Third Rail Ventures, LLC (“Turnout,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Turnout political organizing platform (“Platform”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and how long we retain it. This policy applies to Campaign organizers, volunteers and supporters who interact with Campaign events, and visitors to Platform pages.
Turnout is a political organizing platform. Data collected and maintained through this Platform is used exclusively for lawful political organizing purposes.
Turnout receives official voter registration extract files from the Florida Division of Elections on a regular basis. These files contain publicly available voter registration information including name, registered address, party affiliation, precinct, legislative district assignments, voting history, and contact information as provided to the state by registered voters. This data forms the foundation of the Turnout voter records database.
Vote-by-mail request and ballot return data is obtained from Florida election records beginning approximately 60 days before an election and refreshed regularly through the close of each election period.
When an individual RSVPs to or attends a Campaign event through the Platform, we collect their name, email address, phone number, and details of the interaction — including which events they attended, dates, and check-in status. This information is collected as part of the event registration process.
When Campaign organizers or canvassers use the Platform to record voter contacts, we collect the contact outcome, support level if recorded, any notes entered, the identity of the organizer or canvasser, and a timestamp. This data is linked to existing voter records where a match is found.
Survey responses submitted by volunteers after events are collected and linked to their record permanently.
Campaigns may upload contact lists, donor lists, supporter lists, or other data. Each uploaded record is matched against existing voter records where possible. The match result and confidence level are recorded. Data that cannot be matched is stored in the Campaign’s contact database.
Campaign organizers provide name, email address, phone number, role within the Campaign, and a password stored as a one-way cryptographic hash. We also log account activity including login timestamps and data actions for security and audit purposes.
The Turnout mobile app collects GPS location during event check-in and canvassing activities, with user permission. Location data is used only for check-in verification and canvassing navigation and is not continuously tracked. Device push notification tokens are collected to deliver campaign communications.
We collect standard server logs including IP addresses, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps, used for security monitoring and platform operations.
We do not use Platform data for advertising, commercial marketing, or any purpose unrelated to lawful political organizing.
Campaign Data is fully isolated. No Campaign can access, view, or query the data of any other Campaign. Support scores, notes, tags, volunteer lists, and interaction histories are Campaign-private.
Campaigns are granted read access to relevant portions of our voter records for their target universe. Campaigns cannot directly modify these records. Proposed updates from verified field activity are reviewed before being applied.
We use third-party service providers to operate the Platform. These providers process data only as directed by Turnout, under data processing agreements, and have no independent right to use Platform data for their own purposes.
Turnout does not sell, rent, or license voter records, volunteer contact information, or Campaign data to any third party.
We may disclose information if required by valid legal process or if we believe disclosure is necessary to prevent imminent harm or illegal activity. We will notify affected Campaigns where legally permitted.
Florida voter registration information is public record under Florida Statutes §97.0585. Turnout obtains this data directly from the Florida Division of Elections through the official voter registration data distribution process. Processing is conducted exclusively for political organizing purposes, the permitted use established by Florida law. Campaigns accessing this data through the Platform accept responsibility for ensuring their own use complies with §97.0585 and all other applicable laws.
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect Platform data, including encryption of data in transit and at rest, cryptographic password hashing, token-based authentication with expiration, and database-level Campaign data isolation. No Campaign query can access another Campaign’s data.
In the event of a data breach that affects your Campaign’s data or voter information, we will notify you as required by Florida law and applicable federal requirements.
Campaign organizers may update their name and contact information through account settings at any time. To request account deactivation, contact privacy@turnout.win. Deactivation disables login access but does not delete audit logs or interaction records generated through your account.
Individuals who have engaged with a Campaign through the Platform may request a do-not-contact designation by emailing privacy@turnout.win. Note that basic voter record information sourced from official state records is public record and reflects the official state voter file.
If you are a Florida registered voter and wish to update your voter registration information, the correct process is to contact the Florida Division of Elections or your county Supervisor of Elections. Turnout updates its records from official state files on a regular basis. To inquire about what information the Platform holds about you, contact us at privacy@turnout.win.
The Platform is intended for use by adults in the context of political organizing. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 18.
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Platform evolves. Material changes will be communicated to Campaign organizers via email at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
